Tony Oakshett's masterful paintings recreate the 17th century Armada Tapestries, lost when Parliament was destroyed by fire in 1834.
With £300,000-odd of sponsorship and the enthusiastic blessing of peers, he has spent two years recreating the tapestries on giant canvasses, which have been extremely well received.

Unfortunately, Oakshett was unable to attend the formal unveiling by Prince Andrew on 6th July, having been rushed to hospital three days earlier with a pancreatic emergency or something similar (either that or he didn't want to meet the prince). This was quite serious and it was touch-and-go for a bit, but he has now recovered.
